Regardless of your political viewpoint, these so called "Birthers" are nut-cases.
Why? Because just about everybody outside a mental institution knows that skill and education are far more important factors than place of birth. Plenty of America's most successful business leaders, actors, musicians, and athletes were born in other countries. America shines because it can attract the best and brightest talent from around the world. Furthermore, any political attempt to deny this would be pure hypocrisy. Case in point, Arnold Schwartzenegger, who was born in Austria. Arnold happens to be a prominent Republican politician, Governor of California, and probably one of the very few Republicans with enough charisma to challenge Obama in the next presidential election. Say no more.

The reason for that caveat in the Constitution derrika was the fear of the european imperialists from infiltrating the Republic, and turning it into a totalitarian state.

But after a while it happened anyway.
