yes it is completing the circuit with the leds.
This is related to the KISS (topic) speak also.
I enjoy building coil antennas and useing whatever for a xmiter,watching the silly-scope of course.

Yes.The opposite pole of the diode is simply reflecting back the oscillations from the bi-fillar coil.Ah to be able to visualize in other spectra.
