Yes high voltage coil to one leg of the neon

As you can see 5 post (in the 2 pix) ago the arc appears between the same hig voltage coil and a small clip simply laying on the wooden table. I could get the arc between the coil and a paper pencil also.

The problem i have  with 12 volts is that it happens that some time the arc is no more plasma but seems to be a normal arc (very yellow bright and of short duration) and it burns everything arround and often the amperage goes up and blew the transistor . I blew 3 yesterday. So some time the arc is very stable lila color and seems to be not so hot. And sometime  not so stable and it become  very hot arc.

Where  (how) does this arc come from.

Is this arc remarkable or is it a normal and not so interesting issue with this set up?

If yes what can we do with this arc ? Electrolisis ,   cold fusion ?  heuuheuuhh?

If yes Any idea how to improve this plasma arc without burning the transistor ? More volts , stronger transistor, Double transistor  more resistor on base etc  ..

You have made a miniature Tesla coil. And it is a very good one. Can you light the neon if you add 6" of wire to each lead of the neon and hold the neon near the coil? If so, how far away can you get with the neon still glowing?

Is it possible to put an Avramenko plug on the neon?  If so, I'll bet it would light a good distance away from the coil.  If that does not work with neons, the an AV plug with an led might really light up a long ways away.
