Magnetic "water softening"

I just stumbled across this system for a magnetic water softening system.  According to the company that produces this system (with an independent test as well) the use of a magnetic field on a water pipe can transform the magnesium and calcium so they do not cause hard water issues.  Has anyone seen this, tried this, or even put strong magnets on their water pipes?  I have some neo magnets I took out of bad hard drives and was thinking of putting them on my water inlet pipe.  What like to hear opinions from anyone who is in the know of this subject.  Here is the website I am talking about:  http://www.waterimp.co.uk/

I think it is possible...I wanted to point out that that unit plugs in to utility
power...Is not simply a magnet. So it could do what they say it does. Hard
water is ionic and ions could be steered by an appropriate application of a
magnetic field. The ions would have to go somewhere though, while it might
stop them from being deposited in pipes, I doubt if it softens the water
overall.

Hey thanks everyone for responding, yes I believe in the write up they agree the water doesn't feel "wetter" but the buildup of magnesium and calcium is supposed to stop.  I just zip-tied 4 old hard drive neo magnets around my water intake pipe.  Ill find out in a few months I guess if it has any effects on buildup of any calcium etc.
