Free running mechanical oscillator

I am curious if anyone has built a mechanical oscillator that is free running with no input power. A motor spins but I am asking if there is one that vibrates instead. If you are familiar with David Hamel, his engine vibrated not spin. His seemed too complicated to me. Did his work?
