This is approximately how I remember the initial design from Tom. No animation.
The bar magnet is repelling the lazy susan magnet (The "cymbal" in the drawing). The bar magnet is repelling the ring magnet on top so it tilts away all the time. As far as I remember the bar magnet was angeled 45 degrees or so. Tom was showing how to run the barmagnet by using his hand to wobble the magnet on the top. How these two magnets are suppose to run eachother, I don't know...

I hope I remember the right design. The bar magnet is replaced by a ball-magnet (?).

Hi Chet,

Here is another link for the patent above.
http://www.google.com/patents?id=pF3HAAAAEBAJ

That is what initially piqued my interest. A magnet motor should take off like a racehorse. It should also want to run itself to destruction, trying to constantly find equilibrium.

I've been scratching my head trying to figure out how to make two static repelling sphere magnets have a single directed vector.

-Compound lever/linkage
-One way bearings
-Ratchet/pulley
-A round plastic tilting ramp.
-A sliding ramp.
-?

Something has to be keeping them just a little out of equilibrium as they repel each other, otherwise nothing moves.
I will recieve in a week or so a gerotor with 4 inner teeth and five outer teeth. I will test a magnet in close proximity from above so these two gears become magnetic with same facing polarity, and repels eachother. The small gear is located inside the bigger one, so there is no other way to escape other than a rotation that cause increased gap between the inner and outer teeth (Like high pressure air or liquid would do to the gears). The goal is to achieve equal repelling force between the teeth - it at least sounds fair that force equals counterforce. But since the inner gear rotates 20% faster than the outer gear, the force that acts on the inner rotor will maybe cause 20% more potential energy than the outer rotor because it rotates potentially faster. Well that is the experiment I will do - among many others.

Hi Vidar,

That is pretty much the same I recall from when I watched his video a couple of times.

He had the bar mag mounted on a triangular block of wood - 45 degrees.

I do not recall the ring mag being so large.

Thank you  ;D

Ok I see I missed a "sphere" quote!
He said he found no need for gravity anymore ?
Where's the gravity in this Besides the "wobble"
Would the Wobble be considered Gravity??

I believe the new design must still Have Upper and Lower {the 5-6 inch bolt Lumen made]?

Any one??

Chet
Whats for yah ne're go bye yah
Thanks Grandma

Yes, the bar magnet should be placed on the 45 degrees ramp placed on the lazy susan, and the bar magnet should be facing the ring magnet. Also the ramp should be placed in 45 degrees angle to the rod.
The only thing gravity was needed for, was not to allow the ring magnet to fly away. It can be done in a different way.
