Hi Chet,

Here is another link for the patent above.
http://www.google.com/patents?id=pF3HAAAAEBAJ

That is what initially piqued my interest. A magnet motor should take off like a racehorse. It should also want to run itself to destruction, trying to constantly find equilibrium.

I've been scratching my head trying to figure out how to make two static repelling sphere magnets have a single directed vector.

-Compound lever/linkage
-One way bearings
-Ratchet/pulley
-A round plastic tilting ramp.
-A sliding ramp.
-?

Something has to be keeping them just a little out of equilibrium as they repel each other, otherwise nothing moves.
I like the one way bearings idea! This way you could eliminate the annoying attraction "thing". Now need to find some of these bearings...

EDIT:
Said that too fast ;) Actually, the attraction will still be there. It's just so annoying ;/ Anyway, one way bearings should still be an advantage.

Yes Airstriker
Thanks
Tom's Quotes RE:
Gravity and angles,
Quotes:

Now since the runner magnet is not mounded in the exact center of the lazy susan it should turn the lazy susan.platform. Notice as it is turning the heavy huge ring magnet is also TILTING, TURNING, and pushing the runner magnet along.

The runner magnet can not excape this becuase it is ALWAYS GOING TO BE UNDER THE HEAVY UMBRELLA OF THE RING MAGNET SEEKING THE EASY PATH TO EXCAPE. THE LAZY SUSAN TABLE WILL TURN IN THAT DIRECTION.

THE 45 DEGREE MOUNTING OF THE RUNNER MAGNET VECTORS SOME OF THE GRAVITY FORCES ( WEIGHT) OF THE RING MAGNET INTO TURNING THE LAZY SUSAN PLATFORM.

Post where you see fit.

Tom

P.S: My ring magnet will always have part of its weight pushing down on the runner magnet under it. In otherwards the ring magnet will always be tilted as it turns over the runner magnet spinning around and under it.

I also forgot to mention that the runner magnet not only is mounted on a 45 degree ramp but is also fixed at a 45 degree angle to the center axis of device. This positioning allows the lazy susan to turn.

Photos or a video will follow later today and you can post both the previous letter and the photos or video..

Dream,
I see you understood much better than Myself ,The "Fan" in your patent
Would be a very appropriate comparison!

@Airstriker,
Are you able to share a few Pics of your Idea /Build? ["The Better Way"}??

Please??
Chet
Whats for yah ne're go bye yah
Thanks Grandma

Airstriker

I'll share the pictures as soon as I beat my lazyness and upload the photos ;]

Ok, I'm going to try to describe what I believe is the minimum configuration of Tom's 2 sphere magnet motor.

You need a turntable that moves very easily and two sphere magnets and some thin brass rod.
Suspend above the exact center of the turntable, one sphere magnet with north directly up(vertical), attached to the brass rod that is in turn connected to a stationary mount. The rod needs to be just long enough to have some flex which is in turn dependent on the size of magnets used.

Now attach to other sphere magnet to the turntable with north and south on the horizontal plane with both poles an equal distance from the magnet on the rod. This causes a twisting force on the suspended magnet and flexes the rod moving the suspended magnet off center of the turntable.

Now, with the magnet on the turntable at a height that matches the suspended magnet and twisted to 90 degrees of the suspended magnet, no repel or attraction will occur, but if the magnet is twisted slightly more or less then an attraction or repel exists. Remember, you lost some twist because the magnet on the rod twisted some in flexing the rod, so you need to adjust the magnet on the turntable slightly to re-calibrate the neutral point.

Because the suspended magnet is now off center of the turntable, the table will rotate from any attraction or repel to the suspended magnet on the rod.

Way too simple!
I think the fire is started, so now we can all watch it burn!
