We all know about how hi amp electrical induction will melt metal and such but here is an invention you can build that spins a Disk with magnets on it and By inducing eddy current with spinning magnets in copper pipe  gets  it RED HOT for heating water making steam etc....I picture a Flywheel bicycle exercise machine to get the water hot ..

pretty amazing what the permenant magnet  eddy current will do to copper pipe .

No, this is not free heating. The motor which runs the magnets will require more energy when the copper tube approach it. The copper tube is a short circuit coil which is a load to the spinning magnets.

Maybe so but if you hook it to say a washing machine or a water pump that is already going to run anyways then a few more amps is nothing compared to firing up the heat!

You will still need to feed that washing machine with the necessary extra energy to heat the copper tube as well as running the actual washing machine at correct speed. The heat will not be for free. You will pay the extra power bill in the end of the month anyways ;-)


Three words which is very easy to understand: Conservation of energy.


Understanding this, and you will be able to figure out everything that is related to energy consumption versus energy supply. Supply minus consume is allways zero, and vica versa. No big surprises.
