Just some flow of thoughts.

Are we making Akulas device or Ruslan's simplified device?  Has Ruslan 16-18KV in his device with just couple turns of thick insulated wire and 24V input?? Does his device really work?   I do not see reason yet why to make things more complicated than they are.  I agree, with the higher Tesla power more power out but as far as I understand, Ruslan is able to make the sufficient results with lower voltage setup. Or am I wrong?  Yes tuning is a pain in an ass but has to be done.

As far as I'm concerned, we are trying to establish if there is truth in Ruslan's videos that he has a self-runner. If the consensus is that he has not, then we move onto other designs and not until. I have grave doubts about Ruslan's self-running claim but I'm willing to continue work on this project to hopefully be proved wrong.

Just one more thing. We have a couple or so posters here that are coming over as very knowledgeable as to how we should build a self-runner. These guys know who they are, so maybe its time for them to show the rest of us evidence of their build attempts based on Ruslan / Akula's designs.

Now you are on right path
Just for katcher secondary you have to increase electric field strength still which means another rewinding of secondary Tesla coil with increased spacing between turns for sake of increasing output voltage to 40-50kV range at the same frequency... This should light up CFLs on full brightness in same way as Ruslan just showed in his video.

Also please use disconnected computer UPS (like in http://www.ebay.com/sch/Uninterruptible-Power-Supplies-/99265/i.html?rt=nc&LH_BIN=1 ) all time instead of mains for power supply and scope as it has to be off the ground! The only one connection to the ground is grenade coil which makes top load to the Tesla coil secondary and the output grounding there makes path for particles pumping effect. Any other ground loop is destroying it.

i powered my 12V PSU with a 150W inverter powered by a 12V Battery and kept the Kacher powered by 2x 12V batteries in parallel with only the
one ground point (scope probes removed), but the light in the bulbs was the same, so besides the single ground point, still something else is wrong.

I rewound my Kacher like you mentioned by having an extra space between each turn (wind 2 wires parallel, remove one afterwards), see screenshot 1.
I used up the whole length of the tube i had handy which is about 15cm, see screenshot 2

But the resonance frequency of the kacher now is still 1.8MHz, see screenshot 3, so i have to add still some 5 cm (estimate) making the secondary
now something like 20cm long, so i don't know this is ok as it seems too long.

The power in this setup at 1.8MHz seems indeed higher as i get longer streamers (4mm).

The longer Tesla coil is OK as long as it can run on required frequency.

   Guys:
   As far as I am aware, not one person has even tried to replicate the most current of the Akula self runners. So, the simpler Ruslan crt is the one that we are tending towards, for now. Even though each individual replication may be somewhat different from the original, that's ok, especailly if you also are able obtain and show a self runner. "Variety is the spice of life".
   I don't care for the tone of the discussion and speculation of fake or no fake, if no actual proof is given, as well. As that only serves to sow doubt and further distractions on a working device which is being replicated on this thread. And which no one as demonstrated nor proven by an exact replication that it's not working as shown. Ruslan is not so dumb, as to allow such things to show up on his videos, as the green led issue, visible X wires, etz... at least not yet.
  The numerous times repeated red or blue lettering, is also very anoying, at least as far as I'm concerned. It's like yelling in our ears... which is  also not needed. As we hear and read just fine, and don't need this as well.
These are my opinions, yours may be different. We are all entitled to our own views. But,  please don't make it sound like you're a self runner device expert, when you aren't. We are all still in OU kindergarden, here, with no graduations as yet.

Still confused, i am
Hi to every one including our Russian friends, Ukraine, Australia and where ever you are, hello. Can we just for a moment please focus on the coils on the 50mm PVC tube. If we look at the grenade coil (37.5meters long) altogether 48+48+24+24+12+12 = 168 turns of wire, ok up to here with that  now ontop of that we add 52 so how does that = ½ the wave or ¼, if it's half wave that's 37.5meters / 2 = 18.75 meters, (so how does that add up ?) and on top of all that we have a thick white cable any one any idea what wave length that's tuned to ? it has to be a multiple division of the 37.5 meters for a harmonic (multiple) to sit in. Now we have the transmitting Katcher coil any one any idea the wave length of that, that also has to have a fixed tuned wave length, again what's it's wave length ? and for any gain don't we have to have our windings going in the same direction the earth travels in space, it's spin ?

Feel free to add any comments, but the sooner we get this idea working the better for every one who needs alternative energy.
