   Yes, it's good to buy the fets by the kilo.
   I do use a diode at the PS, to try to avoid that from happening, I hope that it's enough.
   My 24v power supply has over-current protection, and will turn off if too much current is drawn.

Don't over rely on the built-in over-current protection on those cheapo chinese PSU's. Always double-up with a fuse rated well under the max rating of the PSU. The brighter your bulbs shine, the more current is drawn!

Better to by a kilo fuses then a kilo mosfets

The  fuses are to slow, the mosfets burns quickly, you need an electronic protection, not fuses.
