It's hard to see how Charrier's reported thrust could be ionic thrust, since the voltage levels are so low. Thermal effects are also ruled out by the "instant on" nature of the deflection Charrier reported in his paper.

As far as I can tell, Charrier is driving his article with the direct output of a Hameg arbitrary waveform generator (a Function Generator) with a normal nominal peak output level of 20 volts p-p (50 ohm output impedance). When it's feeding the coil, apparently the voltage sags quite a bit, since the currents in his coil don't seem to be great enough to produce the kinds of interactions that I see with my supply of an _actual_ 20 or 24 volts, with corresponding currents determined by Ohm's Law.

A signal generator? I thought this was a DC device, like a capacitor.

The effect sounds interesting though and I was thinking of making a Die to trim out the patterns from wax paper and aluminum foil. Though they say tin foil possibly so one can solder to it. If cut with a die it could be a single piece with the tabs connected and would be very easy to make thousands of layers.

Sorry, I was looking at one of the stories posted by ramset about the "Electronic Rocket".

Your videos show something much different and are likely working with the local magnetic field as you show.

I found out some time back that the earths magnetic field is actually quite strong. Enough to flip a N50 neo in a drop less than 12".
