Hand on cup

I was just bathing my kid and he has a plastic cup in the bath for rinsing his hair. I put the cup into the water upside down and pushed it down to the bottom of the bath. I held the cup down and I could feel it trying to push my hand upward.

The energy pushing the cup upward is free whereas the energy pushing the cup downward (my hand) required my effort.

Is this not free energy and is this not the answer to all our needs?

I'm sure my thinking must be flawed but please someone explain.
