overunity can apply to any form of energy, not just electricity.

It can also be Heat, magnetism, light, physical motion (KE), radiation (light falls into this category, but is not the sole member),
stored energy (PE), mass (E/c^2), ionization, elastic (restorative deformation), chemical, gravitation, nuclear, oscillatory, etc...

In the case of the SMOT ( and its variations), the energy is generally assumed to be in the form of gravitational energy.
combination of PE and KE through various stages of the device.

Note:  the SMOT to date, is NOT thought of as an "overunity" device, because the potential energy LOST to the magnetic field, is greater than the potential energy GAINED by the gravitational field. The example given, is an attempt to decrease the PE-loss caused by the magnetism.
