Voltage & current on open circuit?

Hey

I have found that i am getting a voltage and a current from a coil when a magnet is passed over it. Could someone explain how i can be getting a current on a open circuit. Additionally on a short circuit im reading the same current, just lower voltage. Oh, im taking these readings from the output of a bridge rectifier.

How are you measureing a current while maintaining an open circuit?
