As much as they try,the laminates are not electrically insulated from one another. They laminate each core plate with varnish or lacquer of some sort,then they pin press all the plates together. When they do this,most(if not all) the plates becom electrically conected-->but the lacquer dose reduce the eddy currents in the core a great deal.

As stated in the first video,the magnets are alternating fields.

That is because Lenz law losses are eddy current loops, and not all loops can make it to the same X/Y pin position most loops never see the short
circuit because they block one another. Lenz Law Eddy currents  are definitely a homopolar sort of thing.

If you wind a generating coil and load it, it will create an opposing field , to what causes the generation in the first place.
Tinman is your loaded generating coil producing a field that assists' rotation?
