just clarified that with Mark ,he said all he did was turn the image 60 degrees "as Presented" for ease of viewing
and that anyone could go to the posted coordinates and see the image "as presented"

no inversions or similar enhancement agenda protocols.

I am not being negative towards you or your contribution ,in fact I welcome all such thoughtful analysis
because honestly it seems quite whacky that we should see images like this on Google Earth and perhaps a  Rorschack
mindset is playing out here ?
or a "where's Waldo" game from a bored fellow at Google Earth ??

I find the Admiral Byrd story very interesting.   I haven't looked at everything here except the first image you posted.   When I go to those coordinates it looks different than above and looks simply like a spot where the snow / ice has melted - it's almost like they inverted the image you posted above Chet.   Looking at the bigger view there were lots of melted spots that looked like water.   What appears to be raised in your picture is I believe actually a sunken melted out spot and you are just seeing water.   The one above looks like this when I use Google :

I don't think it is a melted area of snow. You can clearly see shadow from the raised edge of the 'saucer'.

Yep I think Rorschack mindset can have a lot to do with Google Earth sightings     Just look at the tricks played on a persons mind when looking at optical illusions.   Take a look here for some fun examples of how easily the mind is tricked : http://www.illusions.org/
