The same thing it always was...
"Science is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence".

In fact the Amish are very scientific and there buggies, harness, hand tools, implements, housing, barns, clothes and social structure are based a methodical approach to what gets the job done and what does not. There also pretty smart in separating there communities from society to avoid all the pitfalls including pollution, chemicals, violence, corruption, substance abuse and...Covid.

In effect when one claims not to believe in science there basically saying they do not believe in knowledge and understanding of the natural world based on evidence and facts. So we should understand science is not a cult or belief but a methodology which should give the best answer but not always.

Yes, indeed.
All too often, people see science as a spanner to hit others with, often using confusion or ambiguity to get the point accepted. The problem with the covid debate on this thread and others is that people who believe that what is written is always accurate, or even  in good faith, may pay a very high price.
