Not electrically minded but seeking knowledge - Will this device work?

Hi all,
I am a lay person and a Patternmaker by trade.
Unfortunately, I am not qualified in electrics nor electronics but wish to learn as much as I possibly can.

I stumbled upon this unit, supposedly utilising a Ferrite magnet and two copper coils to power a lightbulb.
Would this work?
Since I am new at this, it has no bearing on my desire for knowledge.
I am seeking to be able to power my computer and 12v, 24 watt wireless router plus charge cell phones with free energy.

I would be deeply grateful for any advice as to how I could possibly achieve this.

I live in SA and our power grid is on the verge of collapse!

My immediate response is no. Because the ferrite magnet is a "fix" energy source. it doesn't want to give up its energy. The question is how much free energy are you looking for?  I would look  into  LED bulbs for two reasons. (a) they can act as a solar cell when clustered creating free energy (b) they can charge a small battery pack. The voltage output is small, maybe 2.5 - 3volts. Colour is also a factor. Good Luck

No that will not work as previous member said.  99.9% of things you see like this on youtube.com are fake.  Regardless of where it came from that will do nothing.  The basis of most electrical generators involves either a magnet spinning past copper coils or copper coils spinning past a magnet.  No movement = no power. 


The only readily available and affordable solution would be a small solar panel setup.  LED's as mentioned above would only provide a very tiny amount of power unless you had many thousands of them.  It would be cheaper and more efficient to just get a solar panel unless you have a lot of wind there but wind power is generally going to be more expensive.

it will only produce power (in any quantity) if and when the device is set in motion.
i.e. vibrations, etc.


therefore, if you place this, say on top of your dryer while you do laundry, you may be able to light an LED with it.


smaller devices, connected in series or parallel DO have potential to generate power from vibrational sources, such as along highways or bridges, or to reduce machine vibrations by converting the mechanical energy into electricity.


a similar (but much larger) contraption can be used to harness Wave Power from the ocean, by setting the magnet into oscillation.


there are some design changes which would greatly improve the efficiency of conversion.
I was fixing a shower-rod, slipped and hit my head on the sink. When i came to, that's when i had the idea for the "Flux Capacitor", Which makes Perpetual Motion possible.

that being said, the demonstration you took this from, is an absolute Fake.
a stationary device such as this will not light a lightbulb of that size.
if it even lights an LED, this would be due to small vibrations transmitting through the support structure.
for instance, if your AC is running, the table may have small (sometimes imperceptible) vibrations.
