How many volts was your tests at...You did 12v did you do increments of 12v after running the cell for a while...So next do a 24v test run that for a while next 36v, 48v...Step it up. Run each test for half hour or so.

You should now notice something about your cell, well there should be a couple of things...THIS IS STILL BEFORE YOU ADD ANY CHEMICALS...

What is it?

Well I built mine.  Temp at 82F in the garage, no heat, very little power (current) pulled.  Used RO water.  I have a +NNNN-NNNN+.

I charged the plates..

Any ideas other than a chemical added to it?  I do see some bubbles from one side of the negative plate, and a match will not light them..

Waiting for next steps.  Or back to the 3 plate model I have that will crack your ear drums.

And yes I did the charging, water 1/4" from top on N plates, pos on, neg probe touch each N until you tough negative plate (touch the negative as well).  Then other side.

I will assume this is a baby step and set it aside for now.  And check in later.

Also, I did two of them, one I use cheap bottled water.  If I use my well water it will work (salt from the softener) and make a nasty brown water, been there too many times.

Awaiting Ironhead I guess.

Good...increased surface tention...There should be another very important thing to notice about your cell...When you charge the water/plates what should happen?

I did 12, 24, 36, and 48 with a DC power supply.

And I did one with batteries to 36VDC (3 batts; 12 24 36).  I can get more batteries.

Water looked thick and small bubbles on the sides of cell on RO with battery.

But the water that had stuff in it (well water and cheap bottles water) turned yellow and brown.  So I started over.

RO did nothing, but that is what I will use tomorrow.  I know what to add to make it produce what I would trust in my car motor.  But I was hoping not to add anything.

Try Fiji bottled water.  Best tasting water on the planet, so get a bottle for yourself too.

Fresh stream water should be good too - per IronHead - got a mountain behind me and a stream is a few miles from me - comes from melting snow - freakin cold water.

@mramos;
If the gas is run straight from the cell to a water-filled bubbler as a flashback/ interlock, y'all might be able to rinse out the nasties before they make it to the engine's air supply.  Building one of those too.

@mramos, sweet jesus... please tell me that you didn't drill all those holes in your plates. I was going to do that, but after making a bottom air plate for my pellet stove over the winter for the burn pot... I can't imagine even if you stacked them, had to be a tedious undertaking.
Just by chance has anyone tried a SS screen for a plate? I did it with just your typical 2 electrodes, and there seemed to be a noticable increase in gas production from more surface area.

ok... I have a Get outa jail free card today(wife & kiddies) went to MIL's I'm going to make some progress on this thing....

btw, has anyone tried dehumidifier water in their tests? I've been saving some, I have about 15 gallons.
