That is your opinion. Everyone has the right to religious freedom. But the ones obsolete, backward as it is the past. In the past people kept wondering if the earth was the center, the sun, moon, other planets orbiting the earth. But why now? Science has proved that theory wrong. So affordable religious beliefs prevent the development of science? How do you think?

Yes, there are many ignorant people who, as you say, would "tare down the walls"....and it is either intentional, by simple ignorance, or a combination of both, that you are telling only one side of the story. 

There are 'heretics' of all kinds on all sides of the "belief" equation....and many a scientific, economic, and political theory or 'fact' belong in that category.

The Absolute Truth will be here soon enough to put a swift and fitting end to the comparatively petty squabbles we lowly humans seem to love to perpetuate.
