Heh, I use Fedora Core 6 myself, it's OPEN SOURCE!!   And free It's a pretty nice, stable operating system.  I love it.

I took the week camping and now i'm back(freakin ton of posts to read).  Anyway, to increase my computer speed, I turn off a bunch of os programs that don't do anything in the process manager. Another thing ultra uber advance pc users can do is create there own browser operating system, no other program capabilities just a os made to search the net http style on good old port 80. All the processing power on your computer will be dedicated to the browser making things ultra fast. Or like some one said, use linux.

I agree, Buzneg. Ad aware is one of the top free antispy software out there, easy to use and regular updates.

AVG is a good antivirus and is also free and will work well with ad aware, if you are on a tight budget.

I would recommend a minimum of two antispywares. None are a 100% at removing all spyware.
