Bit puzzled that coil looks completely different to the first?

in the second picture i show how to collect the re  in the first picture i show how to make 5 v turn into 1000v when power is taken away

use the first coil or somthing like it  then use the way i used in the second picture to collect it

ok to start with i used a microwave transformer removed the primary winding that is what you see as my base coil i would assume that it is a crystliline epoxy and tape on that core  then i wound cat 5 eathernet cable around it and a steel mig welding wire flux core  and hooked it all up but later on i found i could use mag wire insted of cat5 and welding wire  and get the same effect 

so how it works? i dont know  will it work? yes i would think so

i am digging this out of the box gonna play with it
