Greetings All

We have been talking about wheels and the whys and why not they will work. So it is about time we talk about help items, and what we have to work with. To start with here is a wheel stand built with 2x4s and 3 inch lag bolts. Very simple and very effective design, and can be any size you wish. But if you are looking at a bigger wheel than 3 foot I would say go to 2x6s and 2x8s.

I am posting links due to sizing.

This is just a start, and there is allot to learn and there are test you will need to try to help understand why most wheels fail and why some may work.

I have spent my life building thing of all sorts as well as some fantasy items like this one. ;D

Well I am over 300 lbs and I can stand on it and it won't break. I figure that is a fair test. It was my butt on the line. LOL

Use what is called a flange bearing, Take both sides of your uprights (before assembly if you can) and clam them together and use a wood bore the same size of the smaller part of the bearing and bore them together to help keep the holes in line. Don't over tighten the bearings on the all thread axle or you will cause more friction at the bearings. In this one I used 1/2 all thread. Very good for wheels up to 2 1/2 feet across.
