Cancer cure, but FDA and doctors would rather have your cash and not the cure.

I was chewing on the seeds from an apple every day for about a week some time ago after I first heard about this.  Just wanted to see what would happen and how toxic they really are.

I found them pleasantly almond tasting.  I also got the impression they're definitely not a neutral substance, which is to say, they do react with the body.  For me their effect was like eating some very unripened fruit.  I think if I ate a lot at one time they might give me a stomach ache, but I never ate enough to be sure of that.  Similarly, I got a very mild sensation of my throat constricting, something like a lesser version of what I got one time after eating some boiled soy beans that hadn't been soaked for long enough if anyone knows what that's like.  Neither of these reactions were strong enough though to prevent me from eating the seeds if I felt I had to or should.

I did however decide not to keep eating them as it was a bit of a hassle and I didn't see the point of trying to use them as a preventative measure.  I concluded, rightly or wrongly I don't know, that eating them like that might be stressing my system unnecessarily.  I mean just because something cures something doesn't necessarily mean it prevents it too.  And then there's that thing about 'first, do no harm', which becomes problematic because in this case I just don't know what else the substances are doing.  Also, generally speaking, I'd rather rely on preventative measures that revolve around what I don't do rather than things I have to add into the mix, so...each to their own though.

As an interesting aside, somewhere along the way, looking into this made me remember back to the mid 1970's when one of my friends told me his grandfather had told him that apple seeds contained 'cyanide'.  Whether his grandfather also knew about the B17 too, I don't know, but it does make me think this information probably goes quite some way back in some form or another.

Following "Do no harm" would restrict your diet to a food co-op level.  Things are so processed and manipulated now days it's hard to find any store bought product that doesn't harm you in some way or another.  I'm a smoker (I know... I knooooowww!!!! you don't have to tell me) and it cracks me up when they same people telling me to quit are the same ones drinking diet sodas(aspertame) and eating at Chinese MSG Factories( Many Western Chinese restaurants).

triffid, sorry to hear about your history with cancer, it seems more and more that people are getting it.  My guess is from the pollution in the air, water, and pesticides in the food. 

lwh, I eat the seeds as a precaution due to the fact that many, if not all, people have cancer cells floating around in their bodies everyday.  A healthy immune system takes care of them usually, but it doesn't hurt to give them more tools to do the job.  Also, how often does someone know they have cancer before it gets bad?  I also make and drink colloidal silver water from fall to spring, when everyone starts getting sick.  I did not get sick this past year nor did I turn blue. 

jardo, yeah, you can't overdo it, I tend to do that as well.  Try starting out with just the seeds in the apple you have each day or start with one or two seeds a day and see if they affect you.

Since it turns out that vitamin B-12 has cyanide in it too.I guess it will be outlawed too.But wait,B-12 does not cure cancer while B-17 does.Does anyone here see a pattern here?Or is it just me?triffid

To Iwh,A while back I thought I was working with an acid and "felt" a burning on my skin.It turned out to be methanol which is an alcohol.There was no label on the stuff.So I got a surprise.Because I thought it was an acid I felt a burning on my skin until I realized it was methanol.
To Mark69,It appears that you only need trace amounts of B-17 for it to be effective.Normally I can't taste trace amounts of anything but I can taste the B-17 in the apple seeds.So that tells me its more than a trace amount.triffid
