That is what make the jerking action, and each jerk causes the loss of the possible movement with a negative tug.

Ok, I think I have got something good here...

Based on the same principle, except that the weights dont pull the strings on the left hand side, only the right which may cause some kind of motion...


Here we go...



When a weight falls out it pulls on some chord pulling that side of the wheel down, when a weight falls in, the tension on the chord is released as the weight rests on the axle...
