      The horror and misery resulting from "interpertation" of the collection of myths called the bible is a true testament to how low on the plane of awareness we are.  If God didn't want the folks to eat from the tree of knowlege why did he have it in the garden of eden to begin with.  Who tempted who.  Then when the kids make a mistake he dooms them and all their ancestors to a life of misery?  Stop worrying about getting some kinda individual physci to some far off land where you will cash in.  Start living a life of love and compassion now.  Why wait?

You have knack for  understatement 

According to  the fundamentalists  God made us in his  image .   
Then  apparently  he  had ONE book  written  to show us the way .
This  book has been heavily editited and  translated  into  quite a few  different  versions .
We  are  expected to  find the right  truths in the right  version of  the bible   or   he  sends us to hell to suffer  FOREVER .



I can't  imagine  why  anyone would want to  spend  a day let alone  eternity  with  a God so petty and  mean spirited .

Of  course I know that God is not really like that ............but that is what is  taught to us by some religions.

In other words seek your own truth...using due diligence.

I think  it  is a bit harsh to say that virtually  all  of the bible has been changed.

I do  agree that  due diligence is the answer.

I also think that  most  people raised in the  church  will have a problem  with due diligence.
When   you are taught almost from birth  what is true and what is  not true   it becomes  difficult  to weed out the  untruths  is you have been mislead 

Fortunately   for everyone there is  enough   corruption in most religions now that  only the people  that  don't see it are the people that choose not to see it.   
As I see it religions  are in the process of  bringing  themselves to  a major downfall by there  own corruption and greed .
Once they  have officially fallen  many  people  will  have to wake up and find their  own truth .  ...... For most of them  it will not be an easy process .

Once  most people  are  willing to look a little deeper  into  the truth,   the   love within will become  more visible to them .
From that point on humanity  can make   much greater progress .
