Interesting documents from NASA and DOT - H2 related!

  I just stumbled upon these two documents. The first one is a NASA document from 1977 describing experiments done to gasoline engines with gasoline and hydrogen. The second is a DOT document from Nov 2007 called: Guidelines for use of Hydrogen fuel in Commercial Vehicles.

Please see the attached documents.

Yes, these are informative documents. I came across them a month or so ago while doing research on hydrogen and HHO gas. To me these are the "smoking guns" that should quite naysayers who say this technology is a scam.

The following quotes shows their true colors (in the 2007 document, pages 19 and 20):

"Water and an onboard electrolyzer cannot be used to power a fuel cell or hydrogen ICE vehicle
because of the large amount of electricity required to operate the electrolyzer. An electrolyzer
can be used at a centralized fueling station to produce hydrogen, which is then compressed for
on-site storage and delivery to vehicles. For a centralized electrolyzer, the electrical energy could
be supplied from the electrical grid or from a dedicated renewable source, such as a wind turbine
or solar cell array."

"Onboard electrolyzers are used with hydrogen injection systems for diesel engines (see Section 3.5). In this case, only a small amount of hydrogen and oxygen are produced to
supplement, not replace, the diesel fuel used in the engine. The electricity to operate the
electrolyzer is typically supplied by the engine’s alternator or 12/24-VDC electrical system."

They are basically confirming that, at least for diesels, a water electrolizator is usefull!!!!

I assume they leave out the use on gasoline motors because they are less efficient, so, admiting an electrolizator is also useful runs the risk of leaving open the field to admit the possible OU of some water electrolysis system.

In the reference section at the end of the document the DOT mentions:

Canadian Hydrogen Energy Company. 2006. Hydrogen Fuel Injection. Available at: www.chechfi.ca/index.html.

The Canadian Hydrogen Energy Company (CHEC) at least according to their website is the largest manufacturer of hydrogen on demand systems for the trucking industry with over 140 installation stations in the U. S., Canada and elsewhere.

The DOT document was published in November 2007, so whoever did the research was probably only looking for the largest vendors for that info. The omission of cars is a big one now, so hopefully when they next update their document, they will be more inclusive.
