Hi All,

today I experimented with converting a normal old car battery with sulfuric acid
to Alum Epson salt  electrolyte.

I was not shure when I started this, if this old battery had all cells
without any short circuit, as it also only charged up to around 8 Volts before the conversion
on a normal battery charger....

But later I found out, that 2 cells were basically shorted out abd another cell
was particially shorted out....

But the basic conversion works fine....

Just have a look at my last 16 Videos I recorded today here;

Enjoy !

Regards, Stefan.

What I learned also from it, that you can easily measure the single cell voltage and if single cells are defective
by just poking your measurem, ents tips from a multimeter into the
cells touching the alum or also just tap water and see their cell voltage.

If the cell is damaged via a lead powder residue shorting out the cell at the bottom of the cell,
then the cell will only show less than 300 Millivolts.
If it is a good cell, then without a load and charged up it should read at least around 1.5 to 2 Volts...

Regards, Stefan.

P.S. When I am home again in a few days I will buy a fresh new lead battery without any acid in them and start over again
and will post the results.
