That is a recent observance.  All of NASA's space missions have had some 'unexplained anomalies".  During Apollo 11 when the Eagle touched down in the Sea of Tranquility there was a fleet of unidentified saucer craft around the rim of the crater.  Neil Armstrong had to be coaxed out of the Eagle to step foot on the moon.  They were terrified beyond reason.  I would love to have the audio for that.  It turns out that the unidentified craft were all benevolent, and were there, more or less, to welcome us into our space age, also to keep an eye on us.  The Eagle was a very feeble craft, it is some kind of miracle that we pulled of that mission...

Yes, the 'other' story that is out there is that it was the earthling 'Secret Space Program' that was waiting for them, and the astronauts were more than a little annoyed to discover they were late to the party...
