How they suppress UFO:
     Introduce a law (and this law exist) that said "anyone come in contact with extraterestial can be fine or jailed".  The reason behind this they claim was that if astronauts or things from outside of space contact a person, that person can get contageous virus or disease and spread the population .  We know this is a silly reason to put someone in jail for their claims that seems threaten to the system.

How they suppress overunity electromagnetic devices:
      I believe they have a law that forbid emission of high electromagnetic waves.  Example is some state forbid devices like the Tesla Coil.  So if one create something that emit electromagnetic waves, they can twist the law a bit and fine or put you in jail.

How they suppress patents and inventions:
      Most graduate engineering student needs money to pay up loan.(and most of them have better clues to the truth). They only have a future by working for a company.  When they sign the contract with the company, all their ideas and invention will belong to the company.  So if one have a marvelous idea and invent on his own, he will get sue by the company.  If the company invent it on its own, it will get smash by the government.  If a patent of such device submitted to the patent office, that paper is get lock up in its special jail. 

Conclusion:
     They can "legally" say no to anything.

Yes, and they are very effective at this!  Look how well the government suppresses illegal drugs like cocaine and marijuana.

 the governmet doesn't suppress anything that they can make money off of...if they wanted to they would control the production of the drugs in the contries where they are produced,and they can do that...instead they let it in then they bust the consumer and the local traffickers so the local courts,bondsman and lawyers can make money from it.
