here's an experiment you CAN try at home, boys and girls ...without needing an expensive vacuum generator & X-Ray scintillation sensor equipment

when you receive a letter which has a self-adhesive envelope, open it in the dark whilst holding the sticky-seal side towards you, pull the flap apart quickly, along the seal, and you should see the discharge flash

note that X-Rays may be released, so don't make a habit of this!
