Need Mercury and Bismuth

Hello,

I live in Canada and have been trying to obtain Mercury and Bismuth for experiments with toroidal coils. So far, I have not been able get hold of Mercury or Bismuth here at all, the only companies that ship Bismuth here are extremely overpriced .
Mercury can be found in some switches, especially switches from older thermostats. I have a very tight budget, so if you happen to have or know of someone, or some place that has a lot of these switches or even trashed thermometers I would love to hear from you

I can't point you in any right direction, but I recommend you be careful:  You're in Canada.
Does Canada have anything like the American Homeland Security.

If you can buy something in large enough lot batches, you might end up on someone's *list*.
