One thing that is different though is that currently many people are losing their job. They will have time to express their opinion on the streets -- not just the students... And if you have lost everything already (house, car, job, credit-worthiness) you don't feel like hesitating too much about expressing yourself unmistakably...

Also, communication works differently today (Internet, cell phones with text messages, etc.). It's easier to organize or be part of something.

... many people are losing their jobs.

...some jobs aren't worth having, some people only work for money, not for the job.  Some jobs are going to be around forever - are those the jobs you want, or are those the jobs that people just get for the money?

What finished the Vietnam war was the fact that the US and their allies got their arses kicked in a big way. Nothing else.
So don't get your hopes up.

The USA, particularly the military, received a lesson they needed to learn. Nobody's invincible. Unfortunately it seems that military personalities are slow learners.

The ultimate sour lemon sucked by the USA's Old Boys military heirarchy at the end of the Vietnam war, was the fall of Saigon to a North Vietnamese Female General.

I think you are still very young Trino. If you had been around for a fair while you would know that people who have lost everything are least likely to riot.

Rioters are commonly from well to do backgrounds, better educated than most and mostly young. In fact people with the least legitimate grudges.
