G'day all,

This comment was posted by a Canadian in response to the video:

That is about the significance of it all. Don't read more into it.

Americans hate the French.  God only knows why though, maybe it had something to do with them cashing in on the gold backed dollar back in the day, and then the resulting floating dollar which came about after that.

I was being facetious, no intent to bias or offend.  I was just point out the issue with why the media here in the US doesn't report on french activities unless they directly effect situation here in the US.  Mostly, you have to remember that new we americans get from major news sources are of economic or moral consequence.  This particular news story about riots in France has a bit to do with the world bank - which has a bit to do with major news outlets; so it's no wonder.

The way I see it, most news stories are intended to create bias emotionally or logically; it's just one mechanism of psychological warfare.

In a sense true but then also mostly founded on stereotypes and adopted opinions rather than actual experiences. I guess it's mostly that the French arrogance is different from the US (or British or German) arrogance [the arrogance seems to be about the same in magnitude though, just different kinds, in my opinion]. ;D  Possibly mostly people who have never lived outside of their culture with an open mind.

Same with Russia and Mexico then? My guess is the French were simply first because they have a little more practice. More countries will follow...

These things mean very little. When the Vietnam war was in full bloom there were protests and riots all over the world by people who were against it.

It made absolutely no difference, even though some ex-protesters say otherwise.

What finished the Vietnam war was the fact that the US and their allies got their arses kicked in a big way. Nothing else.

So don't get your hopes up.
