You know mrmag, i understand what you try to say it is you who don't get it.

The effect of chokes, trys to control or possible stop those high frequency, yes to protect right? but for a balance effect and mathematical equation, you cannot remove that there is self induction happen at the same time when it trys to control it. so for me its not just for protection ok.

Tell me something. do you have a computer monitor or any other electronic device that uses a power cord. Close to the end of the power cord, is there a ferrite bead where the power cable wraps around it? Is it to filter out the high frequency to stop it from getting back into your mains supply or is it there to boost the signal to your computer monitor. After all, it is a coil and a coil are just coils. .

I think both of you guys are nuts. If you want to read more into the functions of these rf chokes, so be it. I thought you would like to know why they are in the circuit. I guess your not use to hearing the truth in this thread. With all of the confusing and misleading information being spread by tito in this thread, no wonder your confused. So, I guess with your logic, every circuit that contain an inductor, the inductor is used to boost the voltage. Tito is a great teacher.

Not sure if this is relevant to the RF chokes but I noticed something while researching the use of those coils in the NT diagram discussed but what I found is that NT mentions the chokes in the patent 568,176 description as:

"I interpose a device or devices in the nature of a choking-coil in order to give to the circuit a high self-induction." 

And he also mentions that they can be dispensed with:

"For instance, the choking-coil as a distinctive device may be wholly dispensed with, provided the circuit in which it must otherwise be placed have a sufficiently high self-induction produced in other ways"

So to me it seems as if it's more "to give to the circuit a high self-induction" more than RF chokes.

That's my 2 cents.

Thanks for the information. I never looked in his patents to see what his reasoning is for them. I know of other high voltage/high frequency circuits and they say that they are protection chokes. Good info.

Thanks MrMag, I am humbled to be of help on pertinent information. 

NT was really descriptive in his patents, just goes to show how degraded the whole patent system has become since then, if only everyone were so forthcoming in their description as he was!

Only wish Tito was that honest...(sorry couldn't help that one...in the name of humanity...)
