Yea, THEY do it quite often. I wonder if it is just a random bot or on purpose to hide a subject.  its rare that THEY push everything off of the front page.

Last nite I was having trouble getting to individual threads. It would either just refresh the home page, or, I was getting this at OUR.com....

Ive been thinking on the zener with the spark gap.

If we used a regular diode in series with the spark gap(or switch), we might have rectification of the spark. But is that enough?  ;]

If we have a 15v zener in series with a switch, and the discharge cap were charged to 16-17v, when the switch closes, the cap dumps through the switch till the cap is at 15v. So a small amount of the caps charge made it through the switch.

The difference is, using a regular diode, the cap might be discharged all the way to zero.
But with the zener, the cap stops discharging when its voltage drains down to 15v.

Here we have a burst of power through the switch, that ends about as abruptly as it began, where with the regular diode, the charge in the cap may be completely diminished through the switch, depending on the quality of the switch and timing.

So what Im getting at is, the zener can help a spark gap or switch act similar to a quenched spark gap.

I dont think we can eliminate the switch, as I had though back then, with the zener, as it would just hold the voltage at 15v. 

But what if the cap was 30v? 50v? Using the 15v zener.  10 zeners in series, 150v zener. Cap loaded to 200v, discharges to 150, bang bang.  ;]
