I think this is something different Tesla used the free ended coil off the secondary to bring in high voltages this is off the primary.

I think the ions are the key, in air purifiers a negative ion cloud forms around the positive electrode and a positive ion cloud forms around the negative electrode.
So if we use this principle a coil pulsed with negative electricity will have a positive bemf and this is exactly what we see, a high positive back emf.
If then a coil is pulsed with positive electricity the bemf should be of a negative polarity.
I think this is whats happening in the Old Scientist's demo the positive bemf from his primary is being absorbed by the open ended coil so the bemf from this coil is of a high negative polarity and runs back into the primary.

What Iv been wondering is if a plate could be added to the end of the open ended coil to pull more energy into the system, this is showing us how to pull negative energy from the environment, an earth ground to the end of the open ended coil may also be advantages but I have not done the experiment.

A plate or sphere is suggested to be added to increase output (added capacitance); and to balance the resonance of the extra coil to 3 times the frequency.

  So, apparently we separate (bifilar or asymmetric inductors and capacitors), we amplify (collapsing or resonating EM field), and we collect (Avramenko or patent above).  That's my take, anyway.  But it still feels like it's missing something, elegant.  ..

Having problems with the circuit, doesnt act like the mosfet is conducting, I get 1k hz when I flip the switch but then nothing no more oscillations to the gate.
