a.king, allow me to paraphrase and correct me if I'm wrong.

1: Charged capacitor is discharged quickly and briefly into low resistance, low inductance wire.  Current flow (momentum) begins.
2: Circuit is broken.  Momentum continues along wire.
3: Momentum causes scalar/longitudinal/current/RE wave to spread out from wire in every direction (seeking balance).
4: Some momentum is caught in choke coil.
5: Momentum ceases but choke is partially overcharged
6: Choke discharges through capacitor and (mostly) recharges it.


For visualizing, it's kinda like the 'exploding wire' experiments except leaving the wire intact.
