What interested me is the spec:
Mains voltage, 12 watts, 300 rpm, less than 2 dollars....

Here I have my rendition of Lasersabers EZ spin motor running just a straight 1/4 in plexi blade 1 1/2in wide  12in long.

The radioshack inverter is giving the motor 160v and draws .5ma at top speed.  About 80mw at 350 rpm. Now, admittedly, the blade is straight, but 80 mw?      

Anyways, seems pretty efficient being the coils in series are 15kohm. Resistance doesnt seem to be a loss here, Hmm.

Just recently ran the motor with just 3 coils in series, just under 2kohm, about 1.5w, 1800rpm. It pulls the voltage in the cap from the inverter down to 30v, but that lil inverter still keeps going. Tough lil bugger for 10 bucks and 2 AA.

Just did some calculations. A blue led from Radioshack  3.5v forward, 30ma is 105mw. lol  So the motor you see running in my vid is running at 80mw. Now thats funny.
