I think yes  with a good one   pass the hv to step down  to the 4.5 v level
the spark is coming from the output of coil and ground    the internal coils are in series connection with an no contact relay

Have you tried lighting cfl bulbs? I don't have any mains led bulbs.

cfl yes but not so bright   with hv
