The Russian fellow video seems very interesting. It reminded me an experiment of mine where a mot transformer was in the discharge path of a capacitor, with the spark hitting the iron core before going to ground. I think i'll stick to it for more exploration. 
Funny that many of these concepts can be understood easier through Ed's Leedskalnin theory.

No, the area pointed out is the relay coil.


Actually primary should connect between the relay switches.
But problem with this type of switching is that, it could not work on high frequency, second the relay contacts will burn soon, due to spark created on the contacts, while switching.


P.S: for the best simple switching use spark gap or rotatory switching.
