@ramset:  Like Bolt said earlier, without dipmeters and HF-meters that can measure what you are actually doing, you will just be guessing the specs for your (Tesla)coil.
If you cant run them at resonance then you won´t see anything unusual at the output.
The dilemma is that you need Hi-voltage Hi-Frequency equipment which is very expensive.
So it´s hard to give an answer to that.

If you maybe shouldn´t know anything about Tesla coils though then just wiki or google it, there is millions of pages about it.

Thanks ,"the millions of pages" is the problem, Don Smith was quite specific
about winding a coil for magnetic not electric resonance and he also said  most of Tesla's coils where NOT wound this way after JP Morgan and others saw this as a no no for their profit margins

Are you familiar with the winding process that Favors magnetic Transmition?

@Ramset: At the current moment, i believe that Don Smiths reactor coils are nothing fancy (Look at his devices, no cone shapes etc.). He just tunes them perfectly and applies the correct wavelength calculation factor (1/4). But until you know at what resonance frequency your transformer oscillates then you can only guess. The relative position of L1 to L2 is what you are talking about, but i think that simply is all interconnected and needs to be adjusted in the process.

That would be great ,In Dons presentation he points to one of Tesla's patent coils and says"see here he is going for the HEAT[electricity]
This coil is not wound [for the most part] to magnetically resonate
And then goes on to tell the JP Morgan Deal
So Don is inferring something here Magnetic coil/ electric coil, what is the difference he eludes to?

I thought you usually tuned a tesla coil by using a tap lead on the primary coil.  I thought that resonance was the point when the streamers are at their longest, cos only at resonance do we get the highest voltage build up in the toroid, which causes longer and longer streamers. 

Is it really necessary to spend all this money to find resonance? 

Very interesting question from Chet.  Is there a difference between magnetic and electric resonance?

Any more on Don smith's devices would be great.
