Thank you crowclaw for an interesting video.

I tried the link to induction heating on steve's site but it was a blank page... darn!

In the second segment you hold the smaller second coil at the parallel angle and it lights in the center and at 180 degrees but there is an angle looking like 45 but not quite where the second light goes out.

I have seen this angle change something on a joule thief toroid.
It is hard to define and hard to hold it in the right place, but I have had a neon light there and not other places; and a bunch of times the scope probe when held right around that spot showed either a lot more or a lot less than other spots.
I think this is related to what you showed.

Do you know what that is?
No one else has either seen it or showed it to my knowledge.

Also, what is making the power on that circuit?
Is it the wall?
I hope it is pulses and not the wall.

      This is an example of an air core transformer operated at high frequency with a resonately matched secondary.  How many receiver/secondaries can you drive before the primary oscillator loads up. Does loading of the secondary draw more current at the power supply.  If Tesla got his transmitter working and the near field was expanded to thousands of miles would the secondaries purposed load down the primary oscillator?  A solar farm in Nevada powering all the midwest region would be a nice concept.  No wires no shorts none of that crap.  Low frequency so we stay out of the ionizing stuff that can cook you.

I was able to look at the video later at the address referenced in the post above.  It was a copy of the circuit similar to the Smith setup, elsewhere in this thread?

It was related to me that Smith indicated, in his Resonant Sources... .pdf that powering his designs with A/C from a generator and then amplifying that, would be beneficial.  His words were to connect the lower end of the high voltage coil to an earth ground, so I do agree with that.
Independent verification is still needed on his designs.  Has that been done yet by anyone?

Every alternator or dc generator I have ever had experience with had to have an exciter scource.  Often the exciter could be the residual magnetism in the rotor.  The exception is the induction generator.  When line current is applied the current in the rotor lags the pulsed stator.  This phase displacement of currents creates torque between the stator magnetic field and the rotor and the motor accelerates.  If an external mechanical input allows for an acceleration of the rotor so that the phased displaced current is swept across the stator conductors current flows out of the motor.  The impeded ac current transfers it's magnetic energy to the rotor which is accelerated across the ac wiindings.  Now if we can get the magnetic field to radiate and in it's path of radiation is a coil then of course we have a changing magnetic field about a conductor which will generate an emf.  A transformer core material radiates the magnetic field.  The secondary when loaded causes a saturation of the core material and the impedance to the primary current drops and the resultant current increase is magnetically coupled directly to the secondary.  Ampere turns determines what the voltage does.  Now if the magnetic field warp is radiated and the secondary current draw does not affect the primary core saturation or permeability this is a step in the right direction.
