Neon Sign Transformer NST's are by far the best for these systems. They already have a 25khz - 35khz clock inside and are current limited to about 20 mA. They also give about 5k to 15k volts.

SO if you have the choice buy an NST instead but a car ignition coil is easier to find.

The entire purpose is to make high VOLTS with as small AMPs as possible with the highest frequency possible. You do not need to make powerful sparks.

When these system run properly the spark is whisper thin RF violet streamer. NOT a fking big white flash!!! All you are doing is wasting power burning holes in the spark gap electrodes.

The transistors dont see this voltage they only see the PD difference despite they are floating above ground at 30,000 volts. Bird on HV grid wire

A too small di /dt of the current differential produces less HF and that´s independent from the actual spark rate per second. Has to do with the pre-ionisation of the gap.
That can be countered (in a tesla coil setup) by using rounded surfaces for the spark gap electrodes instead of sharp edges, but it might not be too critical in Smith´s devices, since he used off-the shelf components like automotive candles etc.

I recommend running ignition coils at 24 Volt. I just modified my circuit to do so and the sparks are much more powerful (due to the higher electrode voltage they can cross more distance).
That will create ~2.5 kV voltages in the secondary.
The next step is to down-transform the voltage to 230 V with the aircore transformer , store it in caps and then use a miraculous custom high DC --> AC inverter circuit with 2 to 500 power transistors or so that can handle high wattage *ROFL*
I can see nothing in Smith´s table device that hints to a huge output transformer/inverter.
However at several KV, i don´t understand how he gets away with that. He states that the amperage occurs already in the aircore coil and what transistors can swallow 80 kV CE voltages? 

This approach is more what Kapanadze has been doing, not going insanely high with the voltage (which limits his power-out o.c.)

However maybe (?!) Kapanadze is doing that. There is even conflicting observations about that.
I have read in the russian forums that in the old video they simply buried the car cooler to show that it doesn´t have to be a water pipe system and that they actually disconnected the car cooler to connect to the water pipe (the cooler did not light the lamps as bright is what they said)

This has been covered many many times now. Kapanadze is a differential ELF magnetic amplifier which requires 2 earth points several meters apart the further the better. It will still work slightly on one earth but the power will drop a lot. This is why he uses water pipe and cooler.

Don smith system are high frequency 500Khz to 5 megs and lean towards ambient air electron extraction requires ONE ground. Its convention on circuits to show ground symbols in 3 or 4 places means ONE ground.

In VHF systems ground propagation becomes less and less important as old Crystal radios required earth and big long wire for antenna for LW and SW operation but VHF no ground required!! In DS later systems runs at 200 Mhz for 35KW operation.

The TPU is a VHF tesla device. it requires only virtual ground induction not real  as its polarized.

  Here we have the analogy of a Tesla’s transformer (converter?)

    If we look at the construction of it, we will notice that it vaguely reminds of a transformer, because here there is pretty no inductive connection, repeated-primary winding, or how we call it, inductor, consists of only 3 turns (coils), but very thick, and here there are about 250-300 turns.

    However the circuit works and gives a very powerful discharge, we call it Ñ,,ЕТТОННЫЙ [Phetonniy] (the translation to this word I didn’t manage to find, maybe it’s really their special term).
    Also discharges happen all around us , if you look, here it is going. You also can notice that the discharge flows out of the screwdriver towards the coil.

    Now we will change the circuit. We will connect one more coil to this coil. See what’s happening.
    As a result, the second coil became a charge carrier too.

    And we see that it also takes charges out of screwdriver. The lamp isn’t connected to anything. Just a sheet of paper and lamp’s wire is lying on the floor.
    However the lamp is burning. It means that the space is excited to the state when the secondary current emission appears in surrounding metallic objects, it means that the object is not connected, but the emission appears.
    And this means that there’s a transfer, no, not a transfer of energy, but the information about energy to the surrounding space, it is in excited state here, cause if we touch any object, we see how does the system work (that weird sentence).

    This actually is electrostatic energy transfer. The capacity here is only about 15 Watt, but the effect can be observed. With the proper influence upon the surrounding space it provokes appearance of electromotive force like reaction in return.

    By analogy if we put any metallic object here or even hold it in the hand, the lamp will burn, because the electrons will be induced, also there’s pretty no isolation from this current, it pumps out pretty from everywhere. So this is Tesla’s transformer (converter).

    And if we look at the instrument, we see that it shows the presence of powerful field. The instrument isn’t connected, it reacts. We can observe where the intensity is the biggest, it is here near the receiver.
    If we move the instrument away, we see that the intensity is falling down. Here are some more phenomenons that are hard to be estimated like the influence of body, of everything on the registration of the instrument.

    It means that everything is so alive around, that it’s hard to imagine. So all the electrostatic transformers and generators originate in here.

    And the next continuation of electrostatic machines is so-called “The pipe” plan. Here is similar winding plus one more external pipe is put in. The high-voltage potential is supplied on the pipes and it is taken off from the coils. But as a result of uncontrolled growth, the pipe is punched out (пробиваÑ,ÑŒ â€" I don’t know the exact translation of this word here).
    This is more or less powerful version of Tesla’s transformer, that is closer to practical use.
