I believe Ed was referring to coil resonance in the presence of a magnetic field....steel coils may give a truer ring.

No, this is much deeper I think. Edison used to ring the bell in 1875 but his schematic was not like most of electric doorbells today.
Pirate88179 posted correct schematic but very rare. I'm curious why they changed it ?

I think what Stefan ment was if you could have lets say two identical tesla coils use one as transmitter and second as a receiver fed by spark from first one. Or  just some other LC receiver that would match transmitter resonant frequency and characteristics needed.

I meant you need to have a comparator circuit on one additional coil
at the output and use this waveform to trigger the High voltage pulse via the sparkgap from the
Tesla coil always in the wave hill of the 50 Hz output !

This is told in Kapanadze´s patent.

You need to analyse the 50 Hz output waveform via a comparator circuit and then
pulse the High voltage via the sparkgap at exactly the same position in the
output wave,
so the Pulsing of the High voltage spark will also be 50 Hz or
100 Hz or 200 Hz, you have to try, what works best, BUT IT MUST BE IN PHASE SYNC
with the 50 Hz output.

If you just pulse the High Voltage spark asynchronously it can not really
excite the LC resonance correctly.
