The idea is quite old. Well, not exactly as drawn. It has been investigated in 1935 by Mandelstam and Papalexi.

This device actually works. It truly works. Kapanadze devices work on exactly the same principle.
Parametric excitation is involved there, but it is not the main principle of operation.

It is hard to believe, but yes, the two disk generator works on the same principle.
All Kapanadze devices work on this very principle.
However, the principle is not described in the paper, it was not known in 1935.

Kapanadze himself attempted to present this principle on this forum.
Unfortunately, he did not find many listeners here.

  I think by changing the shape of the slot you can alter the output waveform.   The big high-frequency alexanderson motor generator sets had a bunch of poles not alot of slotting and very high peripheal rpm.   They were after hf continous wave propogation.  50kw unit a little cumbersome.    I guess this is before they knew how to get a spike to ring-up in a tank.   Looks like a way around Tesla's patents on resonance to me.  A very expensive one which is just what military contractors are into.  Tesla had the spark gap tech down to a science.  Even if it was a wideband output his transformers would clean it up.   On top of all this is Tesla wanted an impulse input to his transformers.  He could give a damn about continous waves he had gone way beyond that by the turn of the Century.  Tesla had tube tech he got from Crookes.  Tesla's problem was that as soon as he invented something the next year he would make it obsolete.  He did this to Westinghouse who couldn't keep up economically with Tesla.   You don't go about the process of stringing up millions of tons of copper and steel everywhere and then take it all down and build 12 transmitters.  Not to say that it couldn't be done NOW.
