Polywell confinement fusion

Looks promising and interesting. The polywell is a plasma confinement concept that combines elements of inertial electrostatic confinement and magnetic confinement fusion, intended ultimately to produce fusion power. The fundamental idea of the polywell device was conceived in 1983. Research was funded by US military and various small-scale prototypes were built. Today, the development of this approach is funded by Navy but its underfunded because of wars and other projects like Tokamak. Following submission of the final WB-7 results in December 2008, Dr Richard Nebel commented that "There's nothing in there [the research] that suggests this will not work..." Dr. Bussard formed EMC2 Fusion Development Corporation, [1] a non-profit organization, to seek funding for serious continuation of the project.

It somewhat humorous that you would put a story about LPP
Lawrenceville Plasma Physics Inc. (who are really doing good
work IMHO) under a title heading of one their competitors;
Polywell. Oh well...

I like the competition between LENR and standard Hot Fusion
Science. LENR sets the goals and then hot fusion scientists
come along and follow it up using their better knowledge to
do similar things.

Conventional energy suppliers are being set up for the one-two
punch, first by unconventional LENR processes then followed by
more  conventional hot fusion nuclear processes.

It appears that you have unwarranted assumption here.
Simple:
Not looking in starting a new thread, searched topics “fusion”  this one looked small and clean and pertinent with ”plasma” in the content.  That’s all. Competitors? Don’t know, and why should anyone care? lol.
I hope this clears it up…

Yeah, I think was mis-titled out of respect for the late Dr. Busard.
But suffers from the standard fusion bug-a-boo; Once a fusion
method starts showing progress the U.S. government drops
funding on it to allow competitor methods to catch up. So it's
always a horse-race but with no technical finish line.

BTW, I find it thoughly refreshing to watch real scientific progress
at LPP especially after our non-scientific run ins with proported
Cold Fusion processes' Rossi.
