Uh huh...you betcha.   Unfortunately, if one locks his front door, someone can kick or batter it in.   If it's reinforced, they can try getting in through the roof, for instance.
       You're right.   I have two Samurai Tantos (dull; and legally bought in S.F. Chinatown) and two lengthy wood clubs that I found (ONLY! for break-in personal self defense; if and when law and order collapses).

Well, the Romans had a similar system and it collapsed.   But! the politicians acted similarly then, as they do now, so you do actually have a point that I absolutely agree with.
