Hi guys, I'm just wondering if there is another sort of detector for magnetic fields (of magnets for example) other than the regular gauss-meter. look at this image and tell me if there's actually a machine that can produce a magnificient image like this or if it's just an approximate image that could of been design by photoshop for example with some mesurement with only a gauss-meter. Anything that can help me see the magnetic field besides the baby oil and steel fiber trick and the green gel paper would be great (if you know where to buy a gauss-meter not to pricy too...)

Thank you for letting me know.

Spider

Not so hard, take an old CRT tv or monitor, turn it on and hold a magnet close to the screen....Nice!

Spider
When a magnetic field, produced by a moving electric field, is moved longitudinally a tempic field is produced.

Megaverse

Lol thanks spider but I don't have any monitor to burn out like this but I remember having fun with this.

no i was speaking more like err a spectrometer, an oscillator ...is there a whaterver machine that could (in the end) give such result. (I'm guessing to that you need to take a course to use theses).

Paul-R

I wonder if a simple hall effect device would give you a reading, and
then it is up to you to scan the area, record the readings, and plot
the results. Hard work.

Megaverse

So I guess there is no simple answer to this huh... Sad we don't have some damn trekkies tricorder, lol

ok thanks paul, i'll check out what a hall effect device is exactly on the net before doing anything. cauz i though it was just a theorie and not a device so i'll have to check it.
