lets get to the point, electrons are 'sour' because they are ionic, your bodies average normal pH level is stable at 7.0, adding ions to your body will cause your blood system to become acidic.

for instance, if your body is to acidic, it will increase blood pressure, cause the body to become agitated, you become grumpy and snappy to a certain point you would become hypertensive and the anxiety sets in, your red blood platelet levels begin to thin out, in more acidic blood conditions can lead to anemia and at some point death could occur.

if you want to feel good all the time then watch the bodies pH, so long as the body maintains proper pH you feel great and full of vigor.

Tesla was never referring to a specific device per-se, but more to an effect of his high-voltage high-frequency generators had on the human body. Both him and people who visited him including Samuel Clements (Mark Twain - the friend you mentioned) experienced elevated states when exposed to HV HF fields.

Unfortunately, there are no specifics I could find about what was the exact setup. It could've easily been potentials of 100kV+ and frequencies of 500kCycles+ as Tesla hints to various frequencies and their effect on the body:

Tesla observed distinct colour changes in the discharge space when each impulse range had been reached or crossed:

- trains of impulses each exceeding 0.1 ms duration produced pain and mechanical pressures, objects visibly vibrated and even moved as the force field drove them along, thin wires exploded into vapour.

- pain and physical movements ceased when impulses of 100 us or less were produced, could not be sensed and were safe, passing through all matter regardless of composition.

- with impulses of 1 us duration strong physiological heat was sensed

- further decreases in impulse brought spontaneous illuminations capable of filling rooms and vacuum gloves with white light, appearance of effects inherent in sunlight.

Shorter impulses produced cool room penetrating breezes, with accompanying uplift in mood and awareness.

Perhaps what should be discussed are ions and not electrons, and their effect on the human body.

Studies have been done that show that positive ions initially invigorate the person and make them feel energetic, but then longer exposures actually create melancholy, depression and a slew of other things. Over all they are not as beneficial, or at all, compared to negative ions which do wonders for many if not most people.

The "normal" ratio of ions in the atmosphere is/should be around 5:4 (pos:neg). In the so called "civilized" world that ratio is closer to 100:1 or more, in large cities even 2000:1, where huge amounts of positive ions conglomerate, and are created due to the amount of metal and sharp edges.

These factors greatly affect the well-being of people and cause chronic problems, or later on disease.
